Nalla and Pond Deepening Work
Considering the geographical area of Wardha district is 6310 sq km. is If we want to increase agricultural production, there is no option without water. Without water, the world is impossible. Hence it is said ‘Jal hai to life, Jal hai to kal hai.’ Keeping this objective in mind, the organization has decided to work on water. During the period of 2020-2024, the organization has done the work of deepening 58 canals and 1445 farmers have benefited and 11234 acres of agriculture has benefited. A total of 80.953 km. work has been done and the waste lands on the banks of the river channels have come under the channel. The benefit of this was the increase in crop production. This has benefited the small land farmers the most and in this way a total of four ponds have been deepened during the period of 2021-2024. Total 76777, The sludge was removed. In this, sedimentation of ponds at Narayanpur in Samudrapur taluk, Kolhapur (Rao) in Deoli taluk, Morshi in Karanja taluk and Nandgaon (Ka.) in Hinganghat taluk benefited orange growers as well as light soil. This increased the production by increasing the amount of micronutrients in agriculture. For this work, farmers contributed 20% for drain deepening and 10% for lake deepening through public participation. Due to drain and lake deepening, the water level of wells and borewells increased up to 500 feet. In the villages where the organization worked, there was water from December to January. Now, as the water channels of the canals and ponds are freed, the water remains from March to April and the water storage has increased. This water has also started to be used for Rabi season. Due to availability of water, dairy business has been started as an additional business to agriculture and animals are getting seasonal green fodder. This increased milk production. In the village where drain deepening and pond work has been done. The farmers and sarpanch of that village have expressed their gratitude to the organization through the media and personally by writing a letter to the organization.
Canal Cleaning and Desilting
After the construction of the dam, a network of various canals is created from the dam to the farm. In it, water is supplied through main canal, sub canal and minor distributaries. However, while giving water through this, the water cannot reach the end due to percolation, accumulation of silt, growth of trees and shrubs, evaporation and bursting of canals and the water cannot reach the end. Keeping this problem in mind, the canals of Pothra Dam Project and Mahakali Dam Project in Wardha district were inspected by the organization. It was found that the final end of the main canal in Pothra project from Burkoni to Chikmoh is approximately 12 km long and the minor distributary of the same canal is 7 km long. It was closed due to bushes and broken at some places and silt and trees were growing in the main canal of approximately 22 km length from Yela in Mahakali Dam project to Nagpur. Due to this, it was observed that hundreds of acres of land are being damaged as the water does not reach the last element. Therefore, the canal repair, cleaning and silt removal work was successfully completed by the organization. As a result, hundreds of farmers have been saved from the loss of Rabi crops and they have started producing in large quantities. The farmer is living a happy life and is thanking the organization.
Recharge Pit
Charge pits are a good option for farmers to directly soak rainwater into the soil instead of running it off in areas where permeable rock is exposed on the surface of the soil. This can increase the groundwater level and increase adequate water resources in the surrounding wells and coupons, so that the farmers can provide perennial water through recharge pit for irrigation. Taking this matter as a target, the organization selected such an area and completed the work of recharge pit in Taroda village of Arvi taluka and made the project successful by creating recharge pits in 7 places in this village.
